Everest+Paypal Integration

Everest+Paypal Software Box

Did you know that Paypal has more than 150 million member accounts worldwide and that 1 in 3 online shoppers in the U.S. has a PayPal account?
Are you willing to lose that customer base?

According to a 2007 survey conducted by Northstar Research, When PayPal is added to an SMB merchant website, their sales rise an average of 14%.

If you're an ICode Everest user and you sell your products online through Everest's shopping cart, this is the product you've been waiting for.

So, why is Paypal not an option in Everest yet?

If Paypal is as important to my business as you say, why isn't it an option in Everest already?

To be honest, this is a really good question. Especially given the amount of Everest users that are using our product, and the results they are getting.
The reason we think they haven't done this so far (and they probably won't for a long time) is that Everest's Shopping Cart and Paypal work in radically different ways, making most integrations seem awkward, and in many cases, not even work at all. Which takes us to our next point...

Why is your solution better than your competitors'?

Like we mentioned, integrating Everest and Paypal implies handling many subtle issues, most of which you find when it's too late, and some of which you may never find. This is because of the way the Everest Shopping Cart is coded, and because it's almost impossible to modify how it works.
Getting the integration to work implies a lot of work, testing, adjusting, and then testing again. It actually took us over a year to work out all the little subtle behaviours we would get in the different scenarios (multi-currency issues, shipping calculations, non-shippable products, discounts, to name just a few).
In our experience, and that of our many clients, other integration products either don't work well, or imply taking the user through counter-intuitive clicking processes that most of the times end up in your sales reps having to call them because the payment was not completed successfully (because they didn't see the small link at the bottom of the invoice).

Instead of using these simple but less-than-ideal approaches, Everest+Paypal integrates seamlessly into the Everest payment flow. It pretends to be just another payment method, redirecting your customer to Paypal's site and then back to the regular Everest pages for the order to be created just as if nothing had happened in the middle. This is the key to our success: Everest code does not even know something happened in the middle. All the details are handled stealthily by our code, to make Everest think nothing changed, while in reality your customer has been taken to Paypal and back.

And what really makes the difference is that we have a solid customer base that has been using the product for over 2 years, which means we have found and fixed dozens of situations, and addressed the needs of several different industries, resulting in a product that is customizable and gives you the information you need, when you need it.

How it Works

Once we install Everest+Paypal in your site, a new payment option for Paypal will show in your Shipping page. This will be right on top of the regular Credit Card information section.

Shipping Page Screenshot

When your customer chooses Paypal, and clicks on the Continue button, he will get redirected to Paypal, where all he needs to do is enter his username and password to pay for his order.

Once the payment is done, the customer will be redirected back to your site, where he will see the details of his order.

The order is not created until the payment is sent by the customer, just like in Credit Card purchases.

In the background, the system is notified by Paypal of every movement, through a system that Paypal calls Instant Payment Notification (IPN). Once the system receives this notification, it knows it can automatically mark the order as successfully paid, so you don't need to check the Paypal transaction yourself.
This notification is signed by Paypal in a way that is impossible to forge so you can rest assured that it is for real.
Also, if the customer pays the order directly from his bank account, instead of his Credit Card, the payment will take 3 days to clear (Paypal calls this an eCheck). This is not a problem, the system will create the order, and mark it as "eCheck Pending", and it will stay that way until the eCheck either clears or fails. In either case, the system will automatically mark the order accordingly so that, again, you don't need to enter Paypal and manually check yourself.

Paypal Website Payments Pro

In order to make the shopping experience even easier for their customers, 2 years ago Paypal released a service they call Website Payments Pro. This service is composed of Paypal Express Checkout and Paypal Direct Payment.

Express Checkout

The idea behind Express Checkout is that customers don't need to enter all their personal information over and over again in websites they purchase from. Instead, they can simply log into Paypal, and Paypal will send the merchant all the relevant information.
That information includes Name, Address, Telephone, all you need to register in most websites, but of course none of the financial information.

Express Checkout Screenshot

We have integrated Everest+Paypal with Express Checkout by adding a Checkout with Paypal button right below the shopping cart, before buyers have had to login or register. When they press this button, buyers are redirected to Paypal so they can login, and then back to your site. Once back, if they already have an account in your database, they are logged in automatically. If they don't, they will see the registration screen, but most data will be automatically filled for them.

Real usage data from our customers indicates that buyers that are new to their sites tend to choose this option quite often, since it saves them a considerable amount of effort, every time they purchase from you.

Direct Payment

The other feature provided by Paypal Payments Pro is Direct Payment. With Direct Payment customers enter their Credit Card information in your site, and Paypal processes it in the background, without the buyer even knowing Paypal is involved.

The benefit of Direct Payment is that Paypal fees are lower than regular Credit Card gateway fees, adding to your savings.

Customer Testimonials

"Currently, 20% of our customers pay us through Paypal. Before using this product, half of them would simply not buy, and the other half was dissapointed that they had to use their Credit Card.
Thanks to ICode+Paypal, we increased our sales, and our customer's satisfaction.
The product paid for itself in the first week of use!"

"Using PayPal as a payment option on our website is a definite advantage to our business.
From our past experience, about 10% of our customers use PayPal on a regular basis. Recently, after a major software upgrade, we spent about a month without the PayPal payment option on our website, and the effect was obvious, less sales! We found that 95% of the people who previously used Paypal chose not to place an order with us. That resulted in almost 10% in lost sales!
With Crystal Gears' solution we are able to accept PayPal for our web orders once again, and prefer this software integration to our past solution.
The obvious benefits of accepting PayPal - increased sales, and more customer satisfaction with our site."

Get Everest+Paypal Now!

Everest+Paypal is licensed by Paypal account. This means that if you have 3 different websites, but payments for all of them will end up in the same Paypal account (the e-mail address you use to login to Paypal), you only need one license. It doesn't matter if they are on different domains, or even on different servers.
On the contrary, if each website will process payments in a different Paypal account, you will need 3 licenses.

Once you purchase your license, you will provide us with the information we need to install the product in your servers. This includes the information of the Paypal account (you never give us the password to it, all the configuration that needs to be done inside Paypal is done by you with our instructions. We never have access to your Paypal account), and the addresses and passwords for us to connect to your servers and install the product.
The installation process is transparent to you, and it only takes a few hours. Also, if you can't give us access to your servers, we can instruct your technical staff on how to install it themselves.
Also, if you don't have a Paypal account, we will help you set one up. It only takes 20 minutes.
